The Easter Break- 10 Days of Fun with the Kids

Question of the Day

After spending the better part of a week at home with my five children I wonder how parents home school their children. I have a Degree in Education and have been asked on occasion if I would ever consider homeschooling my kids. The answer for me is no. I don't have the discipline or organization or patience necessary to take on the task or teaching five kids at all different levels. Let's be honest at my house Art class consists of drawing on the walls. Math class is how much change can I steal from the Disney World savings change jar for coffee before the kids catch me. We do great with computer time as the kids have that down pat, if only there was a credit available for X-Box! We also run full time classes in Drama as someone is always telling their side of the story. I have also found my share of possible science projects in the back of the fridge or when then kids dump out the inside of one of Ellie's new diapers and mix it with water to make goo that is fun to play with and horrible to clean up. I am not sure any of that is on the standard curriculum.

What about you? Would you or do you have the ability to run a household and teach your children at the same time? For those of you who are doing just that what is the key to success?

Tip of the Day

When waiting in a doctors office or hair salon and kids are bored and there are only adult magazines give your child an object to find in the magazine like an apple, a bike, a dog etc. My kids love this game and when there are two or more of them they race to see who can find it first.

This is what Ellie thought of the Easter Bunny at our Fifth annual Easter Feaster where 52 friends came for supper and an Egg Hunt and luckily this year we had enough food and didn't have to order pizza!

WE PLAY THE "PEANUT BUTTER" GAME IN THE CAR OR AT RESTRAUNTS ETC WHEN MY DAUGHTER GETS BORED...JUST SIMPLY THINK OF THE MOST DISGUSTING THING THAT YOU COULD EAT WITH PEANUT BUTTER (IE PEANUT BUTTER AND CREAM CORN) AND DON'T SAY THE SAME THING AS ANYONE ELSE. ANY FOOD WILL DO AND IT'S GREAT FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES.

AS FOR HOME SCHOOLING NO THANK YOU I DO SOMETIMES LIKE TO KEEP MY SANITY! ANYONE WHO CAN DO THAT MY HAT IS OFF TO YOU!
